In the previous presidential election, Labour Party candidate Mr. Peter Obi visited Katsina State Governor Mallam Dikko Radda to offer condolences after the death of his mother, Hajiya Safara’u Barebari, who passed away at 93 years old.

The statement was issued by Radda’s Head of Media, Ibrahim Mohammed, and provided to journalists on Tuesday in Katsina.

He pointed out that the Labour Party’s presidential nominee offered sincere sympathies to the Governor and his loved ones.

Obi said, “This morning we have gathered here to genuinely extend our sympathies to you and your family following the loss of your dear mother.”

He clarified the reason for his visit, stating, “Considering the holiday schedule, I decided to postpone my trip until after the celebrations ended so that my arrival would coincide with a period of peaceful contemplation. We have come together today not to doubt the will of the Almighty Allah, as we are all subject to His infinite compassion. Whenever He summons us, we should be ready to respond.”

Obi sought divine intercession for the departed soul and their loved ones, emphasizing, “Let God Almighty, with His boundless mercy, pardon her transgressions, offer her everlasting peace, and provide you, your family, and the virtuous citizens of Katsina the fortitude to endure this irreparable sorrow.”

In a similar vein, the North West Zonal Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ahmed Umar, visited Katsina on Tuesday to extend his condolences.

Today, I am here to express my heartfelt sympathy to His Excellency the Governor, his loved ones, and everyone from Katsina State following the demise of his respected mother, who was like a mother to each one of us.

“The departure of a mother is an irreplaceable void, a test of faith that shakes the very core of our hearts. Yet, we pray Allah grants His Excellency, the family, and all mourners the strength and solace to endure this grief with patience and grace.”

Umar went on to pray for both the state and the nation, saying, “May Allah, with His infinite mercy, grant lasting peace, unity, and hope to Katsina State and our dear country, Nigeria. Let us hold onto faith as our steadfast foundation, believing that even amid challenges, His wisdom will ultimately prevail.”

Deputy Governor Faruk Jobe, speaking on behalf of the Governor, conveyed his thanks to everyone who visited.

“The fact that you have come to express your condolences for the loss of His Excellency the Governor’s mother, as well as for the State Government and the citizens of our state, is greatly valued,” stated the Deputy Governor.

He stated, “Representing the Governor’s family, the State Government, and our community, I extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generosity.”

Accompanying Obi were ex-Finance Minister Mrs. Nenadi Usman and the Labour Party’s national spokesperson, Alhaji Yunusa Tanko.
