updated regarding the progress of educational facilities in remote regions; projects valued at around Rs 1000 crore are currently in motion through different programs.

Saha, responsible for the Education department, made these remarks when responding to a calling attention motion presented by MLA Pathan Lal Jamatia on Tuesday, which was the final day of the session.

The State Government is presently undertaking several significant initiatives aimed at enhancing educational facilities in rural regions. Under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), Rs 213.4 crore has been allocated for building structures and associated projects in 30 rural schools, with two institutions now complete and twenty-eight still under development. Additionally, Rs 261.77 crore has been approved for constructing facilities in another 33 rural schools through this program. Furthermore, as part of the NESIDS initiative, construction activities valued at Rs 100 crore 74 lakhs have commenced in 14 rural schools throughout the state.

He added that through the Special Assistance Capital Scheme, a sum of Rs 33.82 crore has been approved for enhancing infrastructure in 6 schools. So far, building works at one school have been finished, whereas constructions are progressing in the remaining five institutions.
This indicates that a significant effort is presently being made throughout the state to improve educational infrastructure in rural regions. Under the Special Assistance for Capital Investment Scheme, a sum of Rs 159.36 crores has been allocated for enhancing infrastructure at 62 schools; as of now, building works have concluded in 15 institutions, whereas they’re ongoing in another 47. Furthermore, within the framework of the Suvarna Jayanti Scheme, construction activities valued at Rs 8.51 crores are progressing in just one institution. These programs collectively aim to furnish contemporary amenities in rural schools, foster better study conditions, and reinforce rural schooling via comprehensive advancement. Moreover, efforts aimed at upgrading infrastructural elements such as extra classroom spaces, male lavatories, female lavatories, restrooms tailored for students with disabilities, access ramps along with support rails, equipped library halls, potable water stations, IT suites, scientific labs inclusive of biology sections, lab apparatuses, plus small-scale/large-scale maintenance tasks have commenced, entailing expenditures totaling Rs 188 crores thus far,” stated the Chief Minister.

advised the House that clearance from the central government has been obtained for building 39 hostels as part of the PM JANMAN and DAJGUA initiatives.
“In addition, school furniture is being provided to the concerned schools for students at the basic level. Funds are allocated to schools for repairs, and financial assistance is provided to educational institutions in rural areas under the extra-salary sector, enabling them to purchase furniture and carry out necessary repairs. In the fiscal year 2024-25, a total of Rs 50 lakh has been given to school inspectors for the purchase of school furniture. Moreover, a total of Rs. 53 lakh 46 thousand has also been provided to the school inspectors in this fiscal year. For the repair and infrastructural development of schools, Rs. 1 crore 60 lakh has been allocated to educational institutions in rural areas under the extra-salary sector, to be spent on school repairs, furniture purchases, and other necessary improvements,” he added (ANI)
