On Friday, the historical realm of Isolo within Lagos found itself abuzz with activity as Prince Isa Olakunle Abiodun Faronbi-Shekoni ascended to become the new traditional leader, taking over from the late Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka following his passing on April 10th, 2024.

The official presentation of the Staff-of-Office and the Instrument of Appointment took place in the conference room at the organization.
The Lagos State Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Chieftaincy, and Rural Development located at Alausa-Ikeja.

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs and Chieftaincy & Rural Development, Mr. Bolaji Kayode Robert. He extended his congratulations to Faronbi-Shekoni upon his ascension.

He encouraged him to make peace with those who competed for the position of chief alongside him and other relatives.

During his speech, Robert praised the state governor for maintaining transparency, legality, and efficiency in the nomination process for Obas within the state. This ensures that the democratic principles cherished by the state remain intact without unnecessary obstacles.

The commissioner further stated that, considering Oba Faronbi-Shekoni’s role as the guardian of his community’s heritage and customs, he ought to serve as a focal figure for upholding collective harmony and fostering societal progress.

He affirmed that the Sanwo-Olu administration will not cease efforts in directing infrastructure development toward the residents of Isolo.

Robert encouraged the newly appointed Oba and the attending leaders to show generosity in their triumph.

The Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area, Otunba Adebayo Olasoju expressed gratitude to the state governor for facilitating a smooth transition in the succession of the Obaship title within the kingdom amidst challenging circumstances.

He pledged to maintain peace in Isolo and oversee further advancements.

A joyous Oba Faronbi-Shekoni expressed deep gratitude to Almighty Allah for allowing this momentous day to happen.

The leader from Isolo particularly expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu, Robert, Olasoju, and other notable guests in attendance.

He pledged to stretch out olive branches of camaraderie to other rulers with whom he competed for the prestigious throne.

The newly acclaimed Olosolu’s enthusiastic supporters later left the Alausa Secretariat in a lengthy procession. As King Faronbi-Shekoni happily walked down Akinbaiye Street with great fanfare on foot towards the town’s state-of-the-art palace, he acknowledged the cheers of residents and spectators who had gathered along the road to get a look at their new monarch.

Oba Shekoni-Faronbi was born on December 24, 1974, into the family of Alhaji Kamorudeen Akanji Babatunde Shekoni and Alhaja Sariat Amori Iyabode Faronbi. He finished his secondary schooling at Ansar-ud-deen College in Isolo before advancing to the esteemed University of Ilorin where he pursued civil engineering. Oba Faronbi-Shekoni has gained professional experience through work with various organizations both domestically and internationally, such as Hansmag Nig. Ltd., K. Foam Woofson in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, amongst others.

He serves as the Chief Executive Officer at Ab Shakes Corporate Investment Ltd., an Agro Allied Firm, until fate granted him a new position.
