On Tuesday morning, PR VC along with Police VC left for Abuja, Nigeria, representing Rwanda in the upcoming 2025 Women’s African Volleyball Club Tournament set to occur between April 3rd and 15th. Initially, three Rwandan squads were registered; however, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) withdrew due to player injuries shortly beforehand.
The players traveling from both teams displayed optimism about participating in this event, stating that their primary aim was not merely participation but also bringing home an award. Captain Valentine Munezero of APR women’s team voiced her enthusiasm towards competing fiercely despite facing formidable opponents across Africa. “In previous tournaments within this series, we achieved sixth-place ranking. However, now our lineup boasts tactical enhancements, leading us to aspire for higher achievements,” she mentioned.
Furthermore, APR aims to duplicate their recent success seen when clinching victory over perennial favorites Kenya Pipeline Company at the 2025 CAVB Zone V Club Championships through winning four matches consecutively – 3-1 overall scoreline including specific game scores like 20–25, 25–17, 26–24, and 25–23 respectively.
Munezero added, “Securing triumphs isn’t viewed lightly since confronting such robust competitors can indeed prove challenging even amidst global competitions.” She conveyed confidence derived from past victories indicating potential breakthroughs could arise again soon enough.
Meanwhile, debutantes Police Women’s Volleyball Club prepare eagerly anticipating their inaugural stint at these championships despite lacking prior experience. Coach Christian Hatumimana acknowledged readiness amongst his athletes ahead of departure emphasizing collective anticipation regarding future outcomes promising favorable prospects moving forward.
